Introducing Beckett James💕

Things have been quite crazy around these parts lately. On September 21st we introduced our second little one into the world. My first little one is 16 and not so little anymore but he is excited just the same.

Beckett was 7lbs 13oz and 19 ¾” long when he was born. He is finally back to his birth weight. He is the sweetest little baby boy and we are so in love with him.

One of my kids drew a portrait of me and I think it captures my end of year teacher essence perfectly.

2020/2021 - you were a year like no other. You challenged me to re-think teaching, to create new strategies, to become less hands on but more engaging - if that’s even a real thing.

I hope I never have to endure another year of Covid teaching because that was hard.
Year 8, that’s a wrap! Now it’s time to settle in at home for my 14 months of time off for mat leave to raise my new little nugget. 🤰🏼I’m so excited for this next chapter but also scared because of the unknown.

We have been busy over here doing a backyard remodel! We started off with a very sad, overgrown patio space that was not used and just plain old ugly! (Swipe to see)
What we have now is a space we can enjoy each others company, where we can gather (one day) with friends, where we can laugh and relax and just feel happy!

I’m pretty sure the twinkly Edison lights are my favourite part. What do you think?

I love this bulletin board! Sometimes teaching kids that there are magic tricks to solving multiplication helps them to remember their strategies easier!
0 - anything x 0 is always 0
1 - anything x 1 is always the other number
2 - when you multiply x 2, double the other number
3 - when you multiply by 3, double the other number and then add on one more set!
4 - when you multiply by 4, double the other number and then double it again!
5 - when you multiply by 5, use the other number to tell you how many times to skip count by 5s!

These tricks are starting to catch on and the kids are referencing this board when they forget! Yaaas!
